The Tucson Convention Center will soon see millions of dollars in improvements.

The Rio Nuevo Board approved the next steps in the Tucson Convention Center revitalization project last month after advancing more than $4 million in upgrades.

Improvements include $3.4 million for renovations to existing meeting rooms and the creation of a boardroom meeting area; nearly $500,000 for a 25,000-square-foot expansion adjacent to the exhibition hall; $37,000 to evaluate existing computer, communication and audio/visual systems; and $115,000 for an initial site development design package.

During its March meeting, the board plans to discuss development at 75 E. Broadway and 1 S. Church.
